Picking a Course

How do you pick a course?

Unless you're one of the lucky few that have always known they were going to save lives, or build bridges, or whatever it is they wanted to do-

You're clueless. Of course you have no idea whether you want to be a politician or a zoo keeper- who knows what they're going to do with their life at 18?

And even the ones that do think they know do end up changing their mind down the line- so it's completely fine if you're not sure where you're going to end up- just pick a subject you actually enjoy and WANT to study (if such a thing is possible).

I can't emphasize this enough- it honestly isn't going to make much difference what course you pick as long as you actually care about it- and want to do it well. Don't pick a course because you think it'll help you get a better job, or even worse- because you've heard it's easy to get into. Even if you get in- you're going to be unhappy studying it for the entire duration of your degree.

If you're interested in more than one subject, or feel that you don't know enough to make a well informed decision- do some reading; read research articles; subscribe to magazines that deal with your subject- and most importantly try and talk to people who are involved in the field already. If you like what they get paid to do- you're set.
