Oxford10

Oxford 10 is a community for Oxford alumni that have graduated from Oxford in the last ten years- and allows them to keep in touch, and stay involved with the university.
They've recently started a mentoring scheme, that matches alumni to current students.
The scheme aims to help make the transition from life at Oxford to a job easier.
I registered for the scheme, and just spoke to my mentor- a lovely woman who graduated from the MSc Neuroscience course a few years ago, and is now doing a post doc.
She was very helpful, and gave really good answers to some of my questions concerning choosing the right lab and research project.
She'd chosen a lab that didn't suit her for one of her projects- and she learned a lot from her experience, which she was happy to share.
The advice was very useful- I would probably have made the same mistakes while picking a lab.
