Oxford takes great pride in it's libraries- and it shows. They're pretty fantastic.
The Bodiean, or 'The Bod' as it's called here is Oxford's most famous library, and one of the world's largest and oldest ones.
The library is one of six legal deposit libraries for works published in the UK- which means that it possesses every copy of copyrighted work published in the UK.
It's inspiring both on the outside and inside; over 60% of its storage space is underground. The Bod's grown so huge now that it has several sites away from the main sites to store books.
Each department and college in Oxford also has it's own enormous and comprehensive library in addition to the central ones.
The university is happy to spend lavishly on its' lib
raries- and they expect us to spend the greater part of our day in them in return.
