Oxford is famous for it's lavish balls & dinners- and each of these usually has a wonderfully bizarre story behind it.
For example, the Boar's Head dinner at Queen's College is legendary-
The story goes that once a Queen's student went into the forest to read Aristotle in some peace.
A boar made the mistake of breaking this young man's concentration by attacking him. Instead of attempting to run away, the student coolly shoved his copy of the great man's book into the boar's mouth.
Aristotle being hard to digest at most times, choked the boar and the student was saved!
In this student's honor, an entire boar is served at dinner every year, with a copy of Aristotle shoved between it's jaws.
